TUCSON – A man has been extricated from his car after losing control on I-10 and crashing into a guardrail. The guardrail went into the car, trapping the victim and impaling him.

The accident happened Monday evening on the interstate near Orange Grove Road.

Northwest Fire Captain Adam Goldberg says it took firefighters nearly 40 minutes to get the man out of the car. He was rushed to UAMC by a medical helicopter.

Eastbound I-10 is back open.
