View my latest article from the Command & Control Success column within the April 2023 issue of Firehouse Magazine entitled Accountability: Beyond the Tags. Growing up reading Firehouse Magazine, and getting my first big chance teaching at Firehouse Expo in Baltimore was 18 years ago.
I owe a gratitude of thanks to both Harvey Eisner, and Patrick (Pat) Grace for making the introduction. I really enjoyed being obnoxious around Harvey because it was totally the opposite his personality.
My April 2023 article is based on numerous incidents in fire service history where front pieces on a helmet, names on a mask, an airpack ID, and/or names on a tailcoat all played a part in the success or extreme challenges of incident accountability.
While not mentioned in this piece, RESERVE APPARATUS BEING MARKED WITH THE PROPER NUMBER FOR THE GIVEN DAY is quite important too. It is the little things that WIN 🏆 in the END.
