The HOT programme connects classroom learning directly with practical drills, operational methods, and the ongoing Time-to-Task operational study.
Dry Drill
Dry HOT — Hilton Hotel Stairwells
Focuses on stairwell operations and practical deployment drills executed without flowing water, emphasizing positioning and line management.
Wet Course
Wet HOT — 14-Station Obstacle Course
A circuit of 14 drill stations focused on water delivery, equipment deployment, tactical troubleshooting, and timed operational performance.
Science & Methods
Science Dry HOT and Operational Methods
Practical exploration of the scientific principles behind firefighting tactics and the specific methods used to execute them without flowing water.
Specialty Tactics
Wet HOT Specialty Tactics
Practical, high-flow application of specialty tactics and specialized standpipe equipment while advancing and discharging water.
Voluntary Early-Morning Time-to-Task Stair Climb
Drill Card 23: Extended Stair Climb
Extended Stair Climb sessions will take place before morning classroom lectures begin at 8:00 a.m. Participation is completely voluntary; specific mornings and start times will be confirmed.
10-Story Climb Evaluation: Two Comparative Approaches
Climbing 10 stories in full protective firefighting gear and equipment.
Climbing 10 stories with gear modified or reconfigured for the physical ascent.
Study Purpose: The exercise compares elapsed time required against the physical demands of each approach, helping participants examine how climbing methods directly impact tactical readiness to work immediately upon arrival on the fire floor.
