GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM) – Multiple fire departments rescued several residents from their Grand Rapids apartment Saturday afternoon.

The fire started around 3:30 p.m. at an apartment located at 2860 Marshall Avenue, just south of 28th Street.

Firefighters had to use ladders to assist people from their second and third story balconies.

Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators say the fire started on the first floor of the building.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
