Firefighters rescued a young boy from a house fire this morning west of Beresford, Beresford Fire and Rescue Chief T.A. Mullinix said.
Crews were dispatched to a house fire three-quarters of a mile west of Beresford around 10 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived on scene, firefighters found smoke coming from the windows on the lower level and upstairs of the home.
A 14-year-old girl had escaped the house and told firefighters that her 12-year-old brother was sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, Mullinix said. Firefighters gained entrance to the lower level and another crew scaled a ladder to safely remove the boy from the home.
