County Fire Tactics is currently evaluating a battery powered chainsaw made by DeWalt.
Upon review and training we identified the following advantages. Also watch the saws’ use on our roof prop in the video two video’s.
- Light Weight
- Easy to Use
- Good Battery Life
- Operates in Oxygen Deficient Atmosphere / Heavy Smoke
- Initial recommended applications include Rapid Intervention, Confined Space.
One challenge identified is pictured in the adjoining photographs.
- Red Circle – kinked hose that restricted all oil flow. This is exactly how it was found when the saw was taken apart.
- Blue Circle: factory installed spring to prevent the hose from kinking.
- Green Circle: firefighter installed spring from an ink pen to reduce kink.
Good oil flow.
