Two children were hospitalized after a residential fire in Laval early Wednesday morning.

The children, ages 2 and 4, were rescued by firefighters and were experiencing difficulty breathing. One also had injuries to the arm, face and chest.

They were taken to Saint-Justine Hospital and are in serious but stable condition.

The fire started around 2:30 a.m. in a residence on Normont St. near Laurentides Blvd. in Pont-Viau.
