  1. We arrived with the first on-scene engine. Watch close-up as the first engine hooks up. This could happen to anyone. Where would you take the first line? Would you use PPV? Where would you place the first truck? Would you go for the rescues and/or attack the fire?

  2. Stretch a line to the obvious fire and try to slow/stop that progress while also trying to stretch a line to the center stairwell side 1 (prepping for the next due if anything) to stretch to upper floors. With a single company it would be very difficult to try and search/rescue however it should be the priority (done obviously with no handline)…BUT we must stop the fire and it’s growth to save more people and the building. It doesn’t appear to be any critical rescues though-

  3. I would use fans on Bravo side to assist with smoke control and take lines through main entrance to control hallway. Would have line extinguish fire on stairs from exterior. Would take windows on all floors close to burning stairwell. Regardless of what I would do or think. They did a Great JOB getting this fire undercontrol with limited personnel. The hydrant out front was dead and they were required to reverse out to a hydrant down the block. This is what took so long getting water on the fire. The normal 1st Alarm assignmen was working a fire a block away. They did not have it undercontrol, so could not respond. This why there was a delay on apparatus arriving. This could happen anywhere. Always ask the WHAT IF??
